Ancient Jewish texts convey the idea that with puberty comes the responsibility for his own actions. The idea of responsibility, back again further. Samuel ha-Kaman (IEther small) wrote to the late first century that the completion of the thirteenth year marks the age of responsibility for commands.
This notion of responsibility for personal actions and, above all, respect and loyalty to the alliance of Torah was solidified in most Jewish communities to be generally applicable to girls at age twelve and boys thirteen years.
Over the centuries, marking the transition has grown considerably as a celebration, as some critics modern reported May overshadow the religious significance of origin.
In non-Orthodox communities, both Bar and Bat Mitzvah (literally, son or daughter of the commandment) are marked by the first of the individual to read or chant the weekly portion of Torah and its associated transition Haftarah of Hebrew.
Many communities also require the individual to lead a section of the service and submit a brief comment on the text they have read and studied. The custom of giving a shawl (prayer shawl). also became part of the ritual for many.
In traditional communities of the bar mitzvah, is now considered part of the minyan (quorum) required for the public reading of the Torah from this day and for the recitation or repetition of certain prayers, the Kaddish as if the first and the Amidah in the latter case.
In Most traditional communities, how a young woman marks her Bat Mitzvah is more limited than in the non-Orthodox communities, and the young woman is not counted as part of the minyan in accordance with Jewish law traditionally interpreted. In Reform, Conservative, Reconstructionist, and temples renewal and synagogues, celebrating a Bat Mitzvah is equal to that of a bar mitzvah.
While individual responsibility is traditionally attributed to the age of 12 years (girls) and 13 (boys) years, Bar or Bat Mitzvah actual ceremony in May itself be seen at a later date. This practice has increased recentlyas seniors do not have celebrated their Bar or Bat Mitzvah earlier in life the desire to mark their commitment to Jewish tradition.
Many communities see the Jewish ceremony of Bar Mitzvah or Bat Mitzvah as an opportunity for the Bar or Bat Mitzvah student to study the Hebrew Bible, the Bible, Jewish history and knowledge base Jewish prayer and practice.
Perhaps the most difficult task in preparing for a bar mitzvah is to learn Hebrew Bible, so an early start is very useful.

The book includes easy, intermediate, and challenging patterns for such inspiring creations as The Calming Shawl, and the Friendship Patchwork Shawl, and many more.
